The Magallanes region will be the meeting point for aquaculture between March 29 and 30, in AquaSur Tech, where industry suppliers will meet with fish farmers in a Workshop sponsored by ULOG, where supplier companies will make presentations of their technologies, to address the challenges of sustainability in the sector. This event, which for the first time is being held in Punta Arenas, is the prelude to what will be AquaSur 2024, whose axis is to advance the UN blue transformation proposal for 2030, where aquaculture is projected as a relevant activity in global food security and has important challenges to ensure the sustainability of the ecosystems in which it is inserted. In this first version, AquaSur Tech is sponsored by CMPC, Salmofood and Elanco. At the meeting, visitors will be able to visit 35 exhibition stands where they will learn about technological solutions for the industry and will be able to register in an open industry space, organized by the Association of Salmon and Trout Producers of Magallanes. Within the framework of the exhibition to be held at the Dreams Hotel and Casino, the Transformational Aquaculture Seminar will be held in parallel, with the participation of more than 30 speakers from the public, private and academic sectors, and the attendance of more than 300 people is expected. The meeting seeks to connect global trends with local initiatives and case studies. “We hope that this event, the prelude to the AquaSur 2024 exhibition and congress, will be a contribution to local aquaculture, bringing cutting-edge technologies to the Magallanes Region and bringing the activity closer to the community,” said Paula Miranda, manager of AquaSur. She also emphasized that “at Fisa we are very pleased with the joint work with the Association of Salmon and Trout Producers of Magallanes, because in this way we are undoubtedly contributing to the strengthening of the aquaculture culture in the region”.
