On 26 and 27 March 2025, Aquasur Tech will be held for the second time at the Hotel Dreams in Punta Arenas. The event is focused on providing a space for the exchange of needs and solutions between salmon producers and technology solution providers to contribute to the sustainability of the industry.

Paula Miranda, Aquasur Tech’s content advisor, explains that this event will be ‘a point for local networking, highlighting the particularities of aquaculture activity in the area and its coexistence with other activities, as well as with the conservation of ecosystems’.

The event is designed to involve suppliers, producers, academics and all those interested in sustainable aquaculture and coexistence with local development and its prospects.

‘Exhibitors will be able to challenge their solutions or research with representatives of the aquaculture industry, in order to project new businesses, pilots or adjustments of technologies or services. In the case of salmon producers, they will be able to quickly have access to an up date of the latest technologies, trends, gaps and knowledge in line with sustainable production and coordinated with the challenges of the Magallanes region,’ adds Miranda.

In this edition, there will be an exhibition of technologies and services in which 70 companies will showcase their products and services for a sustainable industry. There will also be a workshop in which suppliers will present solutions and innovations to the relevant problems of salmon production for producers, academics and the community.

Paula Miranda, highlights the event as a milestone in the region that ‘will condense in two days the latest trends in technologies for sustainability available or under development at national and international level, promoting business tourism in the Magallanes region and in particular in the city of Punta Arenas’.

A novelty this year 2025 is the implementation of two audiovisual rooms in a space called ‘Local Linkage’, which will present talks related to scientific research applied to solving local problems, as well as approaches from other industries for coexistence and harmonious development in the region.

In addition, on the first day of the event there will be a cocktail reception, a space for meeting and dialogue. This will bring together all visitors to the event with exhibitors and local authorities to encourage open conversation and the exchange of ideas.

‘Aquasur Tech is part of the aquaculture development strategy proposed by the FAO in which the growth perspective of the aquaculture activity must always be projected from the metrics of sustainability, with indicators based on science, as well as anchored to the welfare of the communities where the activity is developed’, concludes Paula Miranda.
